Aircraft prices
« on: March 10, 2018, 09:39:03 PM »
Does anyone know why are the aircraft prices so high?
When I bought my first A332s their price was around 140-150m USD, buy now it is 248m USD.

Pricing is dynamic. The more it's sought after, the higher it goes. Within certain limits, but quite large limits. The scale saving (is it the way to say it in english?) of building more makes it less expensive is not really modeled.

Look for other aircraft that are similar.  You can take a hit on fuel burn if it means getting the airframe cheaper.  And don't be afraid to use used aircraft.  With the way the game works more popular aircraft cost more, this prevents everyone from just using the same airplane.

248 million for a new long-haul 250+ seats plane is actually cheap in BW2 now...

All the shinny new A350 and B777X are in the 400-500+ million. :( There’s barely any profit left if you lease these aircrafts, despite their marginally better fuel efficiency. You might even lose money. I have no choice but to lease/ purchase used planes, but it looks like the outrageous pricing isn’t enough to discourage other people from leasing them. I suspect many bankruptcies will hit in one to two game years when all their brand new planes are delivered. (I am not complaining tho... less competition and I might be able to find some barely used planes at a bargain in the used market. ;) )
