The opinion of repositioning flights between bases

Hi all

I know this has come in in the past but I know it's been a little while since it's been discussed. I work for an airline operations and repositioning flights to other airports within i.e the UK is very common feature, in order to operate a flight that may occur a couple of times a week.  Their are many reasons to why it's done

Shortage of a/c
Tech issues/scheduled maintaince of an a/c based their
Expanding operations while shareing a/c within the fleet
Filling the gaps that competitors have missed

Repositioning flights would be a great for all types of airway sim airline big or small to expand their operations without the commitment of full operating base expenses. To be honest this topic could have lots of different opinions however I would love to hear what ideas people would have and how they feel it could help their airlines in the near future
