Hi.  I was wondering why KLEX hours of operations stops at 1800L.  I have personally flown in there at night.

Thanks.

I am going to help here:

http://www.bluegrassairport.com/contactus.html

Airport Administration 859.425.3100

I just called them personally.  I was transferred to operations.

They said that the airport itself never closes.
The lady I spoke with said that the last plane out usually leaves at 2030 and they have arrivals as late (or early) as 0100.

Thank me later.

US Airways Express flt 2445 from CLT; scheduled arrival 2341L

Also... Redmond (KRDM) operational hours are inaccurate.  The game has the airport closed between 18-06L.  The local airport tower is closed at 2000L, but the airport is still opened.

Examples for March 20th...

Alaska flight 2297 from SEA; scheduled arrival time of 2355L
Delta flight 4848 from SLC; scheduled arrival time of 2146L
United flight 5738 from SFO; scheduled arrival time 2328L

Thanks.

In reality, there are very few airports that close... The fact that they dont have service is more a factor of no one wanting to fly at 3am.  Keep in mind, virtually every airport that has scheduled pax service also has some type of cargo carrier that flies between 12am and 6am.  Ive only run into a handful of airports that close, and Im used to flying little (19 seaters) into small towns.  The US just doesnt close their airports... if an airline wants to fly and pays their fees, the airport will be open.

they close cuz of the residents surrounding it (aircraft noise). No one wants a boeing 747 coming in at 3am ;)
