I have a dc3 on which the lease will soon finish, and will take delivery of a dc6. Is there any way I can remove the flight from the dc3 schedule, and use that home base slot to use with the dc6 to a different destination. Thanks for your time

You can even move the whole schedule from one aircraft to another (you keep the departure times). Just go to "scheduling" and you will see a green arrow on the right side next to the aircraft whose schedule you want to move to another aircraft.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see you want to change the destination. In that case you hover over the specific route and select "close route". In the new window you un-select the option "release slot to public slot pool". So you keep the slot and can use it for the new route.

That, but after, it's a big work to move the schedules -as speeds are different, so your new schedule is not optimized. Still, worth the time spent, especially early in the game.

True that. Depends largely on the 2 aircraft types (old/new) during fleet transitions (that's when you use that option mostly I would say). I used that feature the first time when I switched from DC9 to F100, then again from F100 to SSJ100. Worked just nicely and the extra time was not big enough to do any re-scheduling.
