Schedule an aircraft to cover one in maintenance?

Is there a way to schedule an aircraft to cover the route of another that is undergoing maintenance?

I only do this during D checks, as C-checks become quite laborious once you have about 50 airplanes.  To do this, visit the schedule of the aircraft going to maintenance, click the green arrow, and move it a free aircraft that is based at the same airport.

What's needed in a decent fleet size is the option to run a route from Day&Month TO Day&Month.
Organised to cover when the various similar aircraft are in scheduled C maintenance.
The major D overhauls are too infrequent to manage but might also be covered in advance by manually adding routes to cover just for that year.

doing this for D check would be as laborious if you have 400 planes...

I have a 550-strong fleet.  There are 15-25 in D check at any given time.  Laborious?  Meh, maybe a small amount, but worth the revenue stream preservation.

it means - you need to buy and keep at least 20 additional ACs.
Moreover - range and seat config should be ideally the same as those got for D check.

I guess - all above additional costs - already more then 60 days profit

I calculated time lost to B/C/D checks for Very Large Aircraft: the time the aircraft is not flying is 11.5% of the time, which is at the same time 11.5% loss of revenue and 11.5% extra staff costs for the aircraft (that is in B/C/D checks while the staff is being paid).
