If I have all my A checks on saturday (as there is 'the less' demand of the week),
do I need more 'Technical services and maintenance' staff, as if I would spread the
checks over all the week?

If thats the case I could save a lot...
I've actually 570 employees for this division only, is that a lot?

Ohyes, anybody knows more tricks to save money?

thx, iCook Airways

good question, i'm using the same strategy with all my maintainance happening over the weekend.

with a fleet of 29 i have 212 techies. although it averages out at 7ish techs per plane with 24/7 operations does'nt seem so much i guess.

I would also like to know the answer to this.

While on this subject, I would like to know if fleet commonality has any effect on the number of tech and maintenance personnel you have to hire.

No, you still need the same amount if your A and/or B checks were spread through out the week. Having all on day of the week doesnt make a difference.

Tips? Eh.. well.. spread your checks evenly through out the week I would advise. Having all on one day means you'll probably lose money that day from paying maint and for those aircraft not flying (B checks).

Heh, you always ask good questions.  ;)

I want to say no.. but im not 100% sure. From what I can tell, you have the same staff if you have 1 aircraft of 10 different fleet types compared with having 10 aircraft of one fleet types.

I think the logic goes along the lines of what Sami has stated before, labor costs are just a rounded expense for your company. Theres no real deep meaning for staffing levels. Least, as of now.

Hope this helps

Fleet commonality will kill you if you have more for diff engines vs airframes. I tried having four diff sets of aircraft (mfg) and my maintenance staff skyrocketed. But with two types of ATR's and four types of engines it was as if nothing was diff. It looked at them as one type with two engines.

It seemed to be that it took more to maintain two diff manufactured aircraft than it did to maintain two aircraft with diff engines from the same company.

If you want ot give it a chance: I run the maintenace from 23-04 every Sun night w/c checks on Sunday as well. It doesnt matter when you do but I found it better that all my aircraft were going in on certain days...saves sleep.
