City based demand / cargo, etc.
« on: January 03, 2016, 01:32:26 AM »
I just wanted to know what happened to that.

City data forum has been dead for a year now.

Thread in feature requests has not updates since april.

This feature has been "in development" since I joined the game 4 years ago, and I have the feeling that 4 years more will pass and this will still be in development.

I did the Cargo Trial last year and enjoyed the extra (optional extra) work required to make it work.
Can we have a simple version NOW based on:-
Cargo volume limited by type (no extra space for Blocked Seats).
Cargo weight assessed after Fuel and Pax are loaded. This will add some revenue when pax demand is light making short haul night flights more attractive.
Cargo demand based on Monday Pax Demand, with an additional factors. Perhaps 1kg per tourist daily Monday demand PLUS 2kg  per business class and PLUS 4kg per first class. That will give at least give us a base load that can be refined later on. Volume is an issue of too of course but for now just apply a standard figure refinements can come later, perhaps tweaking it based on a town with low Business demand doesn't have much industry.
This probably wouldn't work too well for Cargo Configured aircraft, but it would add some additional decisions around type choice, night flying, etc.
It's been promised for so long, something might be better than nothing?
I hope this will be much easier to program into the game, a short beginners world perhaps to see if the fudge factors work. Volume limits for some types will be hard to source, but best guess will do for now surely. Your gamers will soon provide accredited data for aircraft they feel are not 'right'.
