With the new "Desert Storage" feature now in place I have a question. I have a small fleet of B757s that I don't particularly need but I'm stuck with the lease for the time being. At the same time, I have 739's coming in in the next few months and I intend to initially put them on my current 757 routes. If I were to send all of my 757's to storage (and yes, eat the lease payments until I terminate the leases) would I still be paying the costs for having the aircraft type in my fleet?  Since I would no longer be flying them I wouldn't expect to be paying to maintain them (outside of storage fees) or training aircrews to fly them.

If they are not scheduled then they are not counted as commonality penalty items. Storage will save you from doing C/D checks and that's it.
