Airport slot expiry message
« on: January 24, 2015, 12:12:25 PM »
Hi there,

yesterday I opened some new routes around 4 weeks before my new aircraft arrives. I knew that I could not schedule them yesterday, I just wanted to make sure to open the routes already (despite of the slot costs) and schedule them today when I get back on a PC.
Now it's 10 days prior to aircraft delivery and of course I scheduled the flights to the new aircraft.

Half an hour (real time) later I received an airport slot expiry message warning me that I will lose my slots for the routes because they are not flown or scheduled. But by the time they were scheduled already, just not flown yet because I do not have the aircraft yet.

My question is: Will the routes be closed within the upcoming week if I cannot assign another aircraft to these routes? Or will the routes still be up and I just have to repurchase the airport slots again?

You will lose the slots and need to rebuy them unless the routes are actually flown before the expiry deadline
You should only buy slots approx 2 weeks prior to actually using them

It has been done this way to prevent people buying slots and holding onto them so that others cant get hold of them

Thanks for your reply. That's in fact a good feature and I did not know it existed. I just wanted to have less trouble today and wanted to plan the routes already yesterday. ;)

So once the slots are expired, the routes will remain in the "Manage routes" table? Or are the routes to be deleted completely?

Routes remain but just without slots.
