Replacing AC while in C- or D- maintenance

I wonder how you all handle AC that is in C- or D- maintenance. I try to replace the ones that are in D-maint. and sometimes when I have spare AC I replace the ones that are in C-maint. The latter is a bit of work extra, because it needs more time online, and not always the same type/number is in maintenance. I just wonder what is the most profitable solution.

Curse

If the aircraft flies important routes and if I have spare aircraft I replace them during D-Checks.

However, getting the most efficient MTOW-Version for a specific task creates often more profit over the years than going for a single MTWO-strategy to do D-Check replacements.

Same is for different seating configs.

Except for the first year or so of the airline's operation where every plane makes a big difference in how fast you can grow, flopping schedules for routine C/D checks is a royal PITA that I do not bother doing.

Cardinal

When I'm in growth mode (first few years of new airline or just opened new base) and all aircraft deliveries are intended for new routes (not fleet replacement), I will use the new planes to cover C/D checks on existing routes first, then schedule the new routes to the plane(s) in C-check or about to come out of D-check. It's much better to have the existing, profitable routes fly for those 2-3 weeks/months than new routes with a RI of zero. I just have to remember to not schedule new routes to a D-check plane that has more than 2 weeks left in the hangar, or the new route slots get forfeited since they've never been flown.

This is especially true with Ultra-Long-Haul routes where 7-day scheduling is a necessary evil. If I have taken delivery of 4 planes but need 3 more for my next set of ULH routes, I will use the 4 I have sitting on the ramp to get C/D checks done on the planes flying the existing ULH routes (if I have any yet) while I wait for planes 5-7. I'll even fire off a C-check up to 3 weeks early or a D-check up to 3 months early under this scenario if delivery of the 7th plane is far enough out that it roughly coincides with when the planes finish their checks.

But after I've finished building my HQ or a base, I tend to not bother with C-check swaps although I will still do D-check swaps if I have a spare plane.
