Pre-Planning Routes

While I was waiting for my airplanes to arrive from the factory I decided to pre-plan some routes for them.  I checked off the "Do not buy slots for this airport".  Sometime later I received some messages saying that if I did not use the slots that I would lose them.  Since I did not have any airplanes available I could not use the slots.  Anyway, I lost the slots.  Despite my checking the "Do not buy slots...." feature, the system still went ahead and allocated the slots that I did not want at the moment.  I never used this feature before so, does it work? Or should I have done something else?

If you checked the 'do not buy slots' then for sure that did NOT get the slots for that route. So it's some other route in question, or you accidentially did get the slots still ...

I pre-planned 16 routes and I checked the "Do not buy slots" for all of them.

Yes, I got the slots for all of them.

If you checked the 'do not buy slots' checkbox, and did not later return to edit the route and get the slots at the same time, then you do not have the slots for those routes, for sure. However if you created the route, and later on edited it you may have accidentially gotten the slots there (when you edit the route it automatically suggests to get the slots if you do not have them, so checking the no-slots checkbox is required there).

Just to be sure that I am on the same page as you. If I ever go back to the route to look at it again, just to be safe, I should recheck the box again and confirming before I leave that page otherwise the slot might be allocated.

If you look at the route, no worries.

If you click 'edit route', but simply close the window without saving anything, no worries.

If you click edit route, and exit by clicking on the save changes/edit/whatever it's called button, then yes, you may accidentally buy slots, and need to make sure you've rechecked the box before you save.

Also, did you check the 'do not buy slots' for BOTH airports, i.e. your HQ and your destination?
