As of today the names of AirwaySim's game worlds will change.
Traditionally all game worlds have been named according to the era they are played in. The Jet Age has focused in the 1950s to 1970s, The Dawn of the Millennium between 1970 and 1990 and the Modern Times in the present day. The new system replaces these static theme names with a simple game server identification, but also incorporates the theme name as an additional clue for the game's time and era.
This update affects all current and future game worlds, except the beginner scenario.
So, game "The Modern Times #9" becomes now "Game World #3 - The Modern Times".
And "Dawn of the Millennium #6" will be now known as "Game World #2 - Dawn of the Millennium" - and when time passes and this game world moves beyond year 2000 the name changes automatically to "Game World #2 - The Modern Times".
And with this logic "The Jet Age #8" is now "Game World #1 - Dawn of the Millennium" since it has already progressed all the way year 1987.
The 'theme names' related to the game's year, and shown next to each game world's name, are as follows:
Early Days, before 1960
The Jet Age, 1960-1980
Dawn of the Millennium, 1980-2000
The Modern Times, 2000-2015
Fly to the Future, 2015+
This update is part of changes related to the "long game worlds" that can run over a year and span through several decades (from 1950s to 2030+). In such cases the old game naming concept did not work very well (ie. a "Jet Age" game world in year 2020) so a change was needed.
The next game scenario starting this Friday will be named
Game World #4 - Early Days when it begins.
Any short scenarios starting in the future, such as Asia Challenge, will be named under this new concept too (ie. "Game World #5 - Asia Challenge").
(all forum and game world names will be changed shortly)
