How to compete on routes?

I am based at Katmandu and I'm do fine with my lil' turboprop. I want to step it up and lease a jet such as the 737, however the majority of the short and medium haul market is taken by other airlines.

Is it possible to stick a 737 on these routes, make a profit and win the market?
Do such things like legroom/density, speed of flight and having a newer aircraft affect my ability to win the route over the competition?

Start flying it, see what happens as your RI climbs. Best way to get a feel for how things work.

As a rule of thumb, count the number of daily flights, including the ones you intend to fly. If there are 3 flights, expect your 737 to get 1/3 of the pax. If there are 5 flights, expect each flight to get 1/5. If there are lots of flights on a really busy route, then it won't work so well, you'll probably get more pax than you expect. If however many pax that is looks like it'll be profitable, then fly it.
