Airports served - Level 3

First of all, I don't want to whine and this is in no way a demand to change the achievement.

I was just wondering:
Managed an airline flying to 500 different airports weekly.

500 airports is a lot. A freakishly huge lot. In Modern Times 8, I am currently flying to (by far) the most airports, with 360 from Paris CDG. That includes quite a few airports with a daily demand of 20-50 passengers, which I fly with seat blocked A320s. It is, at least in Europe, absolutely impossible to serve 500 airports unless I even start flying to airports with 0 demand. I imagine it is not much different in the United States, judging from the US airlines serving much less destinations than I do.

So maybe the 500 is just a bit over the top? Would appreciate to know what others think about this, and especially Sami.

What if you have 3 hubs in addition to CDG?

Based in CDG I can only open in Europe - all airports in Europe have a very similar demand structure. Opening my bases in BCN and MAN has added a few (maybe 20 altogether) destinations that make sense to serve, but this effect is not near enough to go towards 500.

The values to achievements were made so that I looked on stats of some previous big (MT) game and worked from those stats. The highest level (3) badges are supposed to be hard / very hard to get...  (= look at the stats leader in that game, add some margin to it and you have the level 3 value for the badge .. and so on ... no complicated math there)

I completely agree, and they should be. But I think they should still be attainable from a variety of airports, and this very achievement looks to be manageable only in a very small niche.
Could you disclose which airline / base you took which number from to get to the 500 requirement?

ATL, JFK, SJU, GUM can make it without seat blocks, IMO

If I remember correctly, Flying Aces (based in ATL) got this "unofficial" achievement in DOTM4. He had about 400+ airports served when the Achievement was announced and he pulled the 500 mark before game ended

Nothing to do with being bored. There is some sense behind that, even if you might not see it.

In JA5 I'm flying to 372 airports from JFK, MSP, SJU and SFO.  I reckon I could easily add another 30 or 40 if I had the time to do the scheduling - lots of 50 to 80 per day destinations still unserved from JFK. I have a load of aircraft sat idle too.

I think the 100 aircraft restriction at remote bases makes it more difficult. For example, I could fly to a lot more west coast cities from SFO and midwest places from MSP but that would be at the cost of dropping longhaul service.

I think the 500 might be achievable only from a huge airport with plentiful LH demand.  It might be possible from LAX, ORD, LHR or ATL.  LH, including light LH routes might amount to 200 of the needed 500 destinations.

Some of the older stats, from older game worlds might be slightly skewed due to possibility of tech stopping 737NGs from places like ORD.  I kind of wonder how many destinations I was flying to from ORD in MT5 (I believe)...  Too bad that the final snapshots of the stat screens are not preserved...

448 airports, and there is almost nowhere with enough demand I can go now. Unless I do some tech-stop with A318, or forcefully fly those 80 and less routes

The level 3 CEO payment will probably be genuinely impossible, unless a gameworld runs past 2050.

Think the achievements could use some variety to make them interesting. Build a 250+ plane airline without any large/v. large planes. Build a 250+ plane airline in Africa. In Oceania. In South America. etc. Operate a fleet of 100+ (or 30+ for small, or whatever) of a particular plane, with one achievement for each fleet. Stuff like that, so those who want to get achievements get encouraged to play different airlines, in different airports. As they are now, it's not really that interesting.

I do mumble randomly... btw, how do I know if I achieved anything? is there place to check it, or it shows up when I achieve it?
