Accomodation advice - Miami South Beach
« on: February 15, 2013, 12:50:03 PM »
Hi All,

I am hoping that someone can assist me with advice on where to stay in Miami South Beach, USA.
I am on holidays there in mid March - a boys trip so 3 rooms for 3 single guys (I am not sharing with them..hahaha)

I have searched many travel websites but just can't seem to find a suitable place...too many to chose from but all seem to be small backpacker style.
I normally stay 5 star but I may have to make an exception this time as I do not intend to spend over $500 per night on a room...I have never been to USA before so find the Miami South beach prices to be high especially as we fly direct from Vegas where we are staying at the Wynn 5 star for $200 per night.

PS: my apologies in advance Sami if this type of question is not allowed on the forums.

South Beach is expensive. Stayed there last year. And watch for heavy parking fees if you have a car. There are cheaper garages, but you have to search for them. Could it be beginning spring break? No wonder hotels are overprized.Good luck !

What did you end up booking at Miami South Beach?  I am going there as well for the Easter weekend...

You may want to use this website as it gives holiday rentals rather than Hotels

PS - apologies if this is deemed advertising Sami

That sounds interesting.  I am actually planning on a house boat vacation one of these days (or years), on Lake Powell (Arizona / Utah).  But instead of sitting in one place, you get to go around the lake - which is actually huge - well long.

There is a small photo gallery.  Take a look at what I mean...  Very impressive.

Or even quicker, Google images:

BTW, wife found / picked Congress Hotel at Miami South Beach.  I quickly gave up when all the reservation sites said it is fully booked. Easter weekend is Spring Break time, so everything ends up being booked up in FL, and the most popular places such as this hotel go first.  But the wife, using woman logic said "Let me call them", and she ended up booking their last available room...
