If under competition...yes they are dull. 

If no competition, then you might be able to do something with them.

If you want to run a true Regional Operation, yes they will turn a profit.

Problem is that most players that complain they can not run a profitable Regional Airline is because they are also operating from a class 5 or 4 airport.....and then are surprised that the demand gets absorbed by the bigger boys.

You are able to fly any aircraft model into success, you only have to do it right.There´s always a time and place for every bird, you just have to find out both. There have been various experiments to proof profitability of little aircrafts and they were successful.
