Would the MD 83 be profitable for these routes? It says it is too small a plane to do this, but then why does the MD 83 have the range for it?

And sorry, I accidentally posted this under announcements earlier.

The "aircraft too small"-warning is also tied to overall demand. If route is big enough for "appropiate" wide body, you would loose passengers to an opponent offering it.
Generally long, thin routes will always loose against shorter ones, mostly because the higher fare for them doesn´t pay the additional fuel you need. Every aircraft needs a lot more fuel on long routes, because it has to carry all supply with itself, thus being very heavy at start and climb.
These routes only make sense when fuel is cheap (as it usually is in BW, but not in full game worlds of modern times) or for company-strategic reasons. They also can provide an otherwise not flown "night-gap filler."
Not everything that is making sense in RL will work within this game, where business is strictly free market, unlike most world aviation markets.
So it happens that specifications of aircrafts, which are designed after RL needs, don´t make much sense in-game.
