Something I have never seen tried is a South American Challenge....

You could also have asked for African or Australian challenge. How many airports are in those areas to start an airline from?
This propose is nonsense, sorry.

Not if you run an Africa challenge and an Oceania challenge at the same time, just limiting the number of players on each. And making them choose one, so that you can not play both game worlds simultaneously. Then it's not nonsense.

exchlbg

No, it doubles the nonsense.Instead of one you now want to run two parallel game worlds, each of those either strictly limited or overcrowded, leaving system with yet another task of investigating noone is playing both.
Maybe the OP has the courtesy to tell us, what in specific would be so "interesting".

Mr.HP

IMO, Africa, Oceania and SA are way too small markets for individual Challenge Games. If the number of players are limited, chances you can't play with your buddies is high, and for games like AWS, I'd prefer playing with my buddies to playing along by myself

What's interesting is if we can have "Pacific Challenge" which involves NA, SA, Asia and Oceania; and/or Atlantic Challenge which consists of NA, SA, Europe and Africa. So there will be more opportunities for LH flights, and LH A/C like the B787, A340 won't go out of production fast

Aerlingus1916

I think all the other continents just simply have markets which are much too small e.g Africa three big airports is all.    Oceania 5 or so.     South America about that.
So even if you did join them up the market would still be too small that is why they have never made those challenges.

What if you could only base in Africa/SA/Oceania but could fly to any airport in the world

exchlbg

What would that change in regard of the lacking opportunities to start from ? What is the general intention ? Yet another world to fail in ?

chiveicrook

Isn't it supposed to be a challenge?
What's challenging about asian or NA world? Hundreds of airports everywhere ;)

exchlbg

I request an African challenge starting 1950 open for 400 participants.

Zombie Slayer

There would be at least 50 viable starting airports in a S. America challenge. 15 or so in Brazil, 4 in Argentina, then at least 1 in every other country on the continent. Limit it to 150 and see what happens. It would be "challenging" for sure, but I would be game....

Could go for 'Southern Hemisphere' : South America, Africa and Oceania : some interesting combinations there...

How much some of you might like the idea... Airwaysim is a financial institution that is aimed at profit. Sami will only launch a new scenario IF the company (AWS) can generate some income out of it.

Some might not like the sound of that, but to those I would say... "Welcome to the real world". Yes, AWS could well be a not for profit organisation, but don't expect 18h per day support and continues game development in return.

As we all do, we pay for it.

And Sami's car doesn't run for free, especially in Northern Europe petrol prices are insane at the moment.

No need to be rude. Someone else instead of being rude, proposed a constructive alternative rather than be sarcastic. This is a forum, not a battleground. Try being constructive and positive instead dismissive and mean. You could have thought of an alternative, but you had to go that haughty spot.

Now THAT'S a constructive idea!!! Thanks for the suggestion instead of some of the rudeness I've experienced simply for making a simple suggestion. ;)

I asked at my local BP if I could hedge my future fuel use : they looked blankly at me... obviously not AWS players... *sigh

L1011fan

Sorry I asked. I'm done with the subject and won't be checking it again. Has everyone become so stoic and unable to be constructive instead of putting another player down?

Its called customer feed-back : just ideas being kicked around which Sami may, or may not, find of interest. Who knows, he may even now be plotting something along these lines: well, winter nights are long, dark and cold in his secret underground lair and at 04.30 one morning, after wrestling with coding for dynamic city-based demand for 48hrs straight...  it might seem like a good idea... or not... probably...

exchlbg

Your first idea was SA only, if I may remind you.My answer wasn´t "sarcastic" at all, it was the plain truth.
I leave it to your estimation how "constructive" the idea of whole southern hemisphere is.But still, it´s simply Sami´s decision .
I believe he will clearly know what to do. He created a game for hundreds of players. And strictly limited games on "first come-first in-game full"-scheme are against the interests of those hundreds as well they would damage game image.
If you make a request out of the blue without any arguments why and how that request makes game better you will face questions for them and arguments against your idea. Maybe we should open a special "brainstorm"-forum where critizism is not allowed.
