Upgrading your fleet?

Apologies in advance if this is already in situ...

However, does the game currently offer the opportunity to upgrade the 763 as RL airlines have done as in the link below?

http://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/blended-winglets-debut-on-boeing-767-225951

Seems like a cool strategy option for this fleet type, and maybe others... performed during a C or D check presumably...

The 733 also had this option developed...

Such upgrades aren't modeled int eh game. Neither are engine upgrades (i.e. DC-8 Super 70's, etc)

Thanks schro,

Shame... I think it would allow for many players to 'move with the times' without the investment in newer a/c's....

Perhaps I should move this over to 'Feature requests' therefore?

The engine upgrades have been denied as a feature request in the past.. and from that perspective, there's relaly not a large number of planes that will benefit from it - only the Mad Dogs, L1011's (i.e. to the 250), the DC8 Super 70's, etc come to mind.

As for winglets, I dont' remember seeing those specifically requested, but it would be a rather major implementation as the flight profile for each plane that gets winglets would have to be updated in the system with new data... if you seenothing when searchign the archives, that'd probably be a good request, but I wouldn't be shocked if it gets a [-]

Yep, its there. With a [-] to boot  ;D

The great one's first answer was:
QuoteNot such a major improvement that it would be worthwile to use time on it..

Later, in defeating another winglet/upgrade topic, Sami expanded his answer as:
QuoteThis would require information about what upgrades are available to which models .. etc.. And really don't know any reliable source for all the data for all the models, so it would need to be checked model by model etc which is quite time consuming.

There is still hope It seems, as this topic is still open although some of the original ideas have been ruled out. https://www.airwaysim.com/forum/index.php/topic,16458.0.html

I assume to get Sami on board, one would need to look up the data and hammer it home.  ;)

Thanks talentz,

I've moved this over to 'feature requests'...

6-10% improvement in fuel burn is not to be sniffed at. That's discarding the corresponding range improvements..

If sami can include some old 'prototypes' in his fleet model,  i'm not seeing why an actual RL upgraded airliner can't be seen as a key part of several Game worlds. I'd happily try an older 733 upgraded against the latest model Boeing as advertised to the 'masses'!...
