I have a "Middle Eastern Airlines" flying into OBBI from somewhere in the Middle East... Sounds like the MEA from Lebanon... :)

In Beginner's World #6

American Trans Air  Even use their old logo.

Maybe just ask them to change the name/livery?

@ raptorva- the name is different and he edited the livery, so he made it his. he is ok. ;)

I actually disagree.  While the tail has been altered, although is still similar, the red marque after the name on the fuselage is a 100% ripoff from AF.

ICEcoldair881

so what. it's a different name. I know for a fact that if it's just a little red thing after a word, with something COMPLETELY different from what it's associated with (in this case AF), it doesn't matter as anyone can use that. You can't claim copyright on that little piece of red paint, it's not part of any landmark. with the words "Air France" in front of it, it would matter, but with the WORD "Dutch" in front of it doesn't count toward copyright infringement. I could do anything with that little red thing I wanted to. I could do the attached thing for example. ;)

That "little red thing" is part of the Air France corporate identity and overall brand.  IMO, it should not be used.

No need to freak out...I'm just providing my opinion - everyone is entitled to one.

What would be the difference to me using the Nike "swoosh" in any application is wanted to.  Afterall it's just a "little white thing".

ICEcoldair881

yes, but there is a difference: Nike has actually registered that check-mark, unlike AF with their red thingy. And technically you can use that check-mark, as it is a common sight in the real-world, as long as you edit it so that it stands out against Nike's. Although it would be different if someone used that in a shoe company and made that their main image, because obviously that image is Nike's, but in the case of Dutch, it looks different enough for it to be able to pass through any ensuing lawsuit by AF with flying colors.....and yes, I know it is your opinion, i'm just saying that he has done nothing that bad that he shouldn't be allowed to use that logo..... ;)

both went bust a LONG time ago and have since been completely out of the public world. CP was swallowed up by AC, and Texas air was swallowed up by.....CAL? Either that or AAL/DAL.....both have lost their respective names and are no longer in use. both are fine. ;)

TheRightSide

So if their not around anymore were allowed to use em? TWA/Reno Air/ Midway/Skybus/Eastern and so on?

ICEcoldair881

Skybus no as they've been gone for only a short period of time, as they went bust not too long ago. TWA/Eastern/Reno and Midway you'd have to ask Sami about. I don't think he'd allow TWA, as it is the landmark of original american air transportation, but he MIGHT allow the others.

raptorva

It doesnt matter if the airline went broke or not, you still cannot use its name or logo or livery.
I know as I got that problem when I used the name and logo of East-West airlines in TJA, even though the real East-West that I used went bankrupt in the 1970's and the reformed one being absorbed by Ansett in the 1980's which also went bankrupt in 2001.

ekaneti

Texas Air was never an airline. It was the holding company for Continental/Eastern/New York Air in the 1980s run by Frank Lorenzo

Technically close mis-spellings would be legal. Sami may not want to go there but there is a web site called Untied.com that mocks United Airlines

Slightly off topic..but what about airlines that use train companies livery? I saw one sporting the livery of the train company I use everyday to get to work..  :o

Finally someone spotted I used Firstbus look-alike color sheme.
- First Capital Connect
- First transpenine express
- First Great Britain Railfeight
- First Great Western
- First Scotrail

Next time I place a big pink "W" on the tail section reprecenting "Worstgroup"

I'm not sure why anyone would want to be "We charge you for carry-ons and then stuff our CEO in an overhead bin to explain why this is a good thing airlines", but someone just founded Spirit Airlines in MT2.   ???

https://www.airwaysim.com/game/Info/Others/Airline811/

//If Spirit were really interested in reducing boarding times they'd just re-bundle a single checked bag with the ticket price, not charge you 4 times their lowest ticket price for you carrying a bag half your size.
