Hello to everyone,

Why is it impossible in this game to schedule a 1 x time week flight ? i mean not impossible to do it technicaly in the game, but to get passengers on that route ?

I've tried already one time with route DFW-BOS (1 month no passengers)... ok i said myself nobady wants to go boston on sunday....

Than i tried again programming a DFW-HNL every saturday with optimal flight schedule... and again 0 passengers  :( in real life people would strugle to get in this plane.... its the typical perfect holidays flight

So could anyone explain me why in ASIM its impossible ?

Thanks.

sounds interesting, would lie to know the cause of this too, though I'm guessing that its just not enough service to attract PAX and/or competition, I think it's said somewhere maybe in the getting started manual that too few flights don't attract customers.

just curious how many PAX are in the demand on those days? From all my flights mon and fri are the busiest

try flying mon-fri or at least 3 days see if that improves

The demand for this line is above 900 pax daily.... and there are no competitors on it, for me its simply not normal neither realistic.....

here's funny way of looking at it maybe your passengers don't want to fly there and have to fly back a few hours later or wait a week to get back home  ;D

In reality, I don't really know of any successful airline that has a 1x a week flight.

:o How many airlines fly certain routes 1 x week only ? specialy vacation destinations..... People which goes holidays normally go for a minimum of 1 week.... and in most of cases they departure on a saturday, or the thousands and thousands of clients that i served as Travel Agent for years are an exception ???  :(

Echoco

then that only leaves one explaination, they hate airbus, must have relatives working for boeing or something all of them

Note: "successful"
This game doesn't have the option to have "charter/vacation airlines" yet. My advice is to increase your frequency to at least 3x a week.

Well its what i will try to do when i get new aircrafts...  ;)

???, i hav 2-3 routes that are 1X a week, n they seem to give good LF... maybe since they r between two big cities..

Should be interesting to have Sami's point of view on this question....

hiya,

the way the game is coded at the moment, you require a minimum of 3 x weekly to attract customers. Unfortunately the game doesn't take into account holiday destinations that are often served only once a week, HOWEVER, this is in the planning stages.

The game also does not count the whole weeks demand for a less than daily service, so if the demand is lets say 90 pax a day, you can only get a max of 90 pax on your flight, even if it only operates 3 times a week. What I hope can be implemented eventually is that, the 90 pax a day can be averaged out over a week, say 630 pax, enough to fill 3 x 767's a week, for example.

Hey, I was just wondering if that had been fixed in the new servers?  I know USAirways, only flies once a week to some of the more obscure Caribbean destinations and I would like to do the same...I guess I will just try it out!

This definately should be allowed to happen. There are small regional airlines in africa that fly 1x or 2x weekly routes where demand is exceptionally thin, but there is so little competition that nobody cares!

So I would propose to Sami that this is allowed, but it takes a huge hit to your loads if another airline is offering more frequent service.

It also has to do with your route image. If you only fly it once a week, the RI will go up very slowly, and you need somewhat of a good image to get good LF's.

Jps

Without knowing the plans of developers, I'd imagine that this could be at least partly included after the passengers can switch the day they travel.

interesting discussion. i also find it strange where my old airline (Parisian) in AirTravelBoom flew a CDG-XXX route once a week and those routes ALWAYS got cancelled. It had the longest turnaround ~1% (both homebase and outer airports), cancellation was always due to 'too short turnarounds'
