Beginner's world #17 is now at 1985 and runs till 2005. Does it mean that USSR countries like Ukraine will become independent and/or that there is more demand from Eastern European countries?

Yes the dissolution of the CCCP is modelled in game and also there is a significant demand shift (particularly towards international flights). All happens around the real world dates.
