Luggage & A380

Normally when you fly, your flight has got 1 luggage belt assigned.

But what if a 380 landed with 853 people on board? I can't imagine them putting at least 853 suitcases on the same belt.

So how do you know to which belt your suitcase goes?

I guess it still goes on one belt. Getting off an EK A380 at LHR, I know its not 800 odd pax but its still alot and everything was on one belt.

A380 doesn't always mean 800 pax, just compare the configurations of Korean Air A380s with the two largest aircraft operated by KLM ;)

Korean Air: 407 (F12C94Y301)
KLM 744:   428 (C42Y386)
KLM 77W:  428 (C35Y393)

Beside that, if there where two belts, you have to watch both of them to get your luggage, extending the time waiting for your luggage.

But they can carry a lot more, EK are either 517 (Y427C76F14) or 489 (Y399C76Y14).

I'm not sure what layout the one I was on was (A6-EDH) but it seemed to work with one belt.

Make a sign:

Economy on Belt 2

Or better yet, upstairs pax and downstairs pax...would make it much easier to find your bags if it is 1 of 400 versus 1 in 800.

I know in Dulles with the air France a380 they have two pallet loaders, one in the front and one in the back, 3 catering trucks, 2 jet bridges, and 1 bet loader in the back.
I guess they put most of the bags in the fright boxes?
