Average Fuel burn?

When looking at an aircraft's statistics, does the average fuel burn in kg/hr relate to the aircraft as a whole or each engine on the aircraft??

IMHO, It's the average fuel burn for the aircraft as a whole

Thanks for that. I wasn't quite sure because the fuel burn for an 4 engined A340 was roughly the same as for a B777.

Which is more or less logical 

The A340 has four small engines while the B773 has two of the most powerful engines on earth (thrust is incredible)

Therefore, 2 engines from A340 clearly drink as much fuel as 1 of B773... at least !
