I was wondering does anyone know if when you are closing a route and opening a new one at the same time is it possibble to use the old slots if you do not relese them back into the public slot pool. Eg a flight departing Bangkok at 07:00 for Phnom-Penh which is the route I closed and opening a route from Bangkok to Chengdu Shuangliu at 07:00 as well to replace the closed route with the same aircraft.

If you uncheck the 'release slots to public pool' box, then the slots will stay yours for 2 months without any flights. There's no opportunity for another airline to grab them, and you won't have to pay for them again when you schedule your new flight.
