Hi,

I know that you can defer a delivery of an used aircraft.. Anyone know if this can be done of a new aircraft order?

For example, if you try to order a 737-300 right now, you get April 1984 as the first delivery date (I guess because an airline BK), and then you have to wait until 1986 for the second delivery...

Thanks

schro

There's not an official way to do it, but lets say you order 12 planes and only want the last 10. On the order confirmation page, you should be able to select the first two and say "do not want" and they'll be taken off so you don't have to go 3 years between deliveries.

Thanks Shro, to do as you stated above would mean that I cancel my first order and lose the deposit.. is that what you mean?

Once you've confirmed the order, I think cancelling is your only option while forfieting the deposit. There's no deferral function that I'm aware of.

But, to be clear, doing it the way schro suggested doesn't cause a cancellation - the aircraft is simply never ordered.  When you select "Skip/Do not order this" you get to calculate the new price, which will not include that aircraft.  It's also a good way of spreading out deliveries if, for example, you need them to coincide with retirements.
