In the same vein as Jona, one night on the ramp... Albeit at a slightly smaller airport (VAA, 2012 total pax 0.37 million vs 20.8 million for DUS ;D).

From your images it looks like you are more like doing everything, while I don't have to load bags ( :P ). Though I do it sometimes, if there is a lack of time, and the loading crew is the good guys.

Nice to know there are more guys doing ramp supervision in here :)
Just asides, and no need to answer or anything, but is your job as underpaid in Finland as it is in Germany?

cheers,

I consider working at a smaller airport a benefit, in that I get to do everything. Loading at every phase, marshalling, de-icing, cleaning the over-nighters, water and toilet service, etc. Well, I could do without cleaning and toilet service. :P Besides, on a typical scheduled turn-around, there's only two of us working. On a charter flight, more of course.
As for pay, compared to my previous job as a security guard I wouldn't consider it underpaid. Ugh. For a newcomer in my job, the salary would be about 1830 €/month + extras for evenings, nights and weekends. Naturally, the taxman takes his own from that...

Nicosia International Airport was once the main airport for the island of Cyprus, but has now been derelict for nearly forty years. Principally used as the headquarters of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, the commercial flight area has lain empty since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974: http://www.urbanghostsmedia.com/2012/06/abandoned-since-1974-nicosia-international-airport-pictures/

Holy sh*t, I need to move to Finland!!! I'm payed on hourly base, and due to us working mostly for charter airlines (and a few scheduled ones like EIN, SAS, UAE, ETD and the alike) the winter months are looooooow hours.
Usually in summer time working hours are 180-220hrs/mth and in winter more like 80-100/mth. Before TAX I rarely exceed 1300€ (including all bonusses for night, etc.), and after TAX I am happy to still be 4 digits. If I didn't love my job so much, I'd be looking elsewhere for better paid ones, but I don't wanna leave this thing.

cheers,

These are a few pictures I thought y'all might find interesting. They are from DFW (Dallas/Ft.Worth) taken August 1988. Taken by me and my dad.
