Mitsubishi MU-2?

I'd like to see this aircraft modeled in Airwaysim.  Its a rare aircraft, but an absolutely stunning one.  I can get the exact specifications for it my dad has one in Florida and I have all his Flight Safety Manuals that he had when he did his type rating... I have a feeling only the Marquise version of the aircraft could be modeled because it carries up to 7 people compared to the Solitaire, which only carries about 5-6 ... but then again you have a load of small pipers modeled on here...  I know the MU-2 has been used for Air Taxi, and I for one would LOVE to try using them at a small airport....

any thoughts?

Usually if you send sami the specs from a reliable source, he'll add them in whenever he has the time.

Pilot Oatmeal

Well I could photocopy the Flight Safety manuals... I'd like to think its a reliable source, and there are MANY different models... Maybe I should speak to him about this one

Which will be NEVER

I don't really see the point since a 6-7 seater would not work in AirwaySim anyway..

You never know what the game will be like in few years...  ::)

Amazing... I love this plane, we flew it to Texas once to escape a hurricane (forget which one) and we refuelled at what was surely an old cow boy town hahaha ... gonna see if I can post some pics of it :p

Awesome vid. :)

Anyway, you can try it with this 8-seater (Britten Norman Islander) if you'd like to try very small aircraft, but I'll guarantee you that it just won't work.

MU-2 is already a business jet -sized plane and those will not be included (ie. pure bizjets, like Citation etc.). Some of the smallest regionals are the same class, true, but they've been and are used in actual regional operations and I believe Mitsu is a pure corporate plane (with some rare exceptions probably?).

Really. You have been warned, and should stop posting in this tone.

Pilot Oatmeal

haha thanks but they are two COMPLETELY different aircraft, i mean lets get real the britten islander does 145 knots, while the MU-2 Solitaire does 330 knots...

and the thing with the MU-2 is I'm so familiar with it, theres just that sentimental feeling lol :p

But the Piper Navajo and Chieftan are MUCH MUCH rarer to find in air taxi's ... companies based out of Ft. Lauderdale Executive, KFXE, have been using the MU-2 for charter flights and air taxi service from early 80s to even the late 90's early 2000s!!!... sami I implore you please!!!

Pilot Oatmeal

Sami, I know you belive they are just a pure corporate plane but it actually isn't ... its technical description given by the FAA is a Utility Aircraft... I promise it is more connected with AWS, then the Pipers are...

I feel like this is a lost cause, but I have EVERY document you could need, I could even get my dad to help out ... Its on a silverp platter whenever you think its a useful addition...

Many Thanks,

( a broken hearted Mu-2 lover)

Curse

Instead of adding another aircraft that just takes away space, lowers the page and has 20+ pax less to make any profit, it would be better to delete all those crap aircraft like Beechcraft 99, An-28, BN-2, the Pipers etc...

I think thats wrong way to think, and those planes aren't "Crappy"... just because its hard to make a profit with them in AWS...does not mean they are crappy planes...

you should be thinking like this,

lets get a game where these hardly used planes can be used to be profitable like they were/are ...

please lets not divert this topic from my beloved MU-2...

sami: please refer to this report   (http://www.ainonline.com/ain-and-ainalerts/aviation-international-news/single-publication-story/browse/0/article/rep-tancredo-continues-attack-on-mitsubishi-mu-2-3247/?no_cache=1&tx_ttnews%5Bstory_pointer%5D=5&tx_ttnews%5Bmode%5D=1)

where it states:

Elsewhere in the report, Breiling also stated that most charter operations provide in-house training. The MU-2 "is used extensively in charter/air-taxi/cargo carriage where exposure is considerably higher than average. Operation is largely at night, [and] aircraft are frequently flown by one pilot who has accepted employment with the charter operators to build flight time to later move to air carrier operations."

I used to speak to pilot that knew my dad at KFXE ALLL THE TIME... I was a little nuisance at the FBO in fort lauderdale... trust me its an air taxi plane

Curse

It is not 'hard' to make profit with them, it us _impossible_ .

I really respect your love to this aircraft and please, believe me, I would also love to see these small aircraft useful, but the difference between this nice vision and the AWS reality is as big as the fuel consumption of a Tu-114 and your Mu-2.

I understand that, I just think instead of giving those aircraft a bad name wasn't the way to do, if anything blame AWS.  Those planes were at one point IRL profitable.... so I believe looking at the bright side instead of wishing those planes were gone, how about wishing those planes were usable in AWS?  just a bit of a nicer way to think about it lol

slither360

While I'm gonna concur with Curse on this one, I will note that if some feature requests ever get done (namely things like airline "modes"), then these aircraft may become slightly useful.

But for now, they are pretty useless.

That said, if you do all the legwork and just give some data to sami to upload into the system (when he has time), then if it really increases your gameplay experience that much, I'd say go ahead.

What information do you think he needs? ... I've got every aspect of the MU-2 here, even the electrical lay out (why the hell do you need to know that i wonder ?)

RushmoreAir

I doubt Sami will sort through a 100 something page manual.  If you can just provide the characteristics that matter in AirwaySim to him via a PM, that will be sufficient.  Some sample stuff: Speed, Year Introduced, Year Certified, Engines, Range, Capacity, Cabin Volume (when cargo comes online), etc.

Jps

I suppose he'll also need some graphs like range.

I suggest you pm sami and ask what info he needs. You could also post his reply here so people don't have to ask one by one, but everyone could just check what's needed from a thread...
