What sort of increase in maintenance % should I expect from a "D" Check?  I am looking at buying an ac that needs one, and I want to know what the quality of aircraft I end up with will be.

My opinion is that you should consider another airplane. D checks are very expensive 

I never buy/lease airplanes that need D checks, especially if I just start my airline.

Do you mean by that the % increase in condition?

I don't know the answer, but if you go about it the other way, and buy an aircraft in poor condition, if you select extra repair, it will tell you how many days it will take and what checks it will include.  I think (not 100% sure) it just goes by days.  If the days it takes to bring a/c to 100% is more than a C check length, C check is included.  I guess the same applies to D check.

In this case, the price of the aircraft + the price of the D check is a lot less than the alternitive, I was just woundering what I would end up with once I bought the AC and then did the D check.  I'll let you all know.

I've noticed that my planes about to go into D check usually are in the low 80-low 90% condtion depending on distance from C check, and the D brings it back to the 90-100% range, so I'd say to expect a 10% bump from the D check.

This is a very wise move, especially if you have the D done before delivery.  You also get a good sized value increase that drops straight to your company value and helps you leverage more assets :-)
