Opening Bases a year apart?

Hey all, i'm trying to open a new base, i opened a base some months ago, and i have to wait until my other base is 1 year old before opening another? why is this?

doesn't make much sense and it's not exactly realistic since real-world airlines can open as many bases as they want and as quickly as they want.

It's simply a game mechanic to slow expansion of people who know how to 'game the game' better than others and keep a handful of people from consistently being the first to snatch up the best bases in the game.

This isn't reality and not every game mechanic is based on reality for huge number of reasons.
