Loan?

Can someone explain why a loan is showing on my accounts please? I haven't taken one out, but I have a debt of circa $800.0K showing. It's not particularly problematic, but not having physically taken out a loan wondered how it got there. Does a loan kick in if you borrow whilst your operational cash is high, but the truth is there isn't always enough money in the account?

In most games, you will start with an initial loan.  In BW7, it happens to be $1,000,000.  Everybody starts with a loan on their books.

Hope this helps.  :)

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, gotcha!

It just struck me as odd as I'd not spotted it beforehand but knew I hadn't taken one out. Suddenly thought perhaps the third whisky last night wasn't such a good idea!

Haha. Yeah, Whiskey and airline administration seem to go hand in hand, but always introduces the possibility of strange debt piling up.  ;D

That being said, also keep in mind that any debt in the form of a loan also affects the listed value of your airline. If you see you have a million in the bank and 800K in loan-debt, your airline will only be ranked as being worth $200,000. Just a heads-up.

Heh, how did I know you'd comment on that, Kardea? :-P Got any more of that Isle of Jura? ;) Well, it's worth noting that you can take out more than one loan at a time, as long as your credit score allows it. That can come in handy if you need to get on a route ASAP and have to get a little extra money to lease a used a/c. Then, just try to pay it off as quickly as possible. There are people who will tell you to avoid loans completely, but I see them as a useful tool to get ahead in a pinch. Just have to be careful to judge your own situation, whether you can handle it or not.

Yes, lets hope people in NATS don't run on Bruichladdich  :D :o

Like I say it struck me as odd, but all fine now. I'm going to try and avoid having loans where at all possible to grow the value, but as said they are useful as a short-term fix if you need additional cash. Touchwood, things are growing quickly enough to provide additional cash to grow at a rate I'm comfortable with...
