Mass fleet changes / scheduling

If you have a fleet of say 20 737s and you want to replace the entire fleet with MD-80s (perhaps because your longhaul fleet are DC-10s/MD-11s) do you have edit each and every one of your 60 shorthaul flight numbers to change the aircraft type, or is there a way of coping the schedule across to a different aircraft type.

Thanks

You have to change every route individually  :'(

it's a lot of fun... specially if you also need to schedule longer turn arounds................... ::)

Not to complain, but I wish there was an easier way of doing this.  At a certain point, like when you want to upgrade your fleet, the game just becomes too much of a chore because of this.

I know that there was a discussion about this once and Sami said it wasn't feasible but I don't know what the issue was.

You have to change each one individually as I did in DOTM when I replaced my aging Boeing fleet with brand new Airbus A320's

The issue is that the odds that you're replacing it with a plane that has the exact same Speed and Turnaround time is very small.

This means that, when you replace a plane, it's almost certainly going to be arriving at a different time than the last flight and/or taking off at a different time.  So the system can't just let you "change planes" and be done with it.  It would have to completely reschedule all your routes that you were moving over and, chances are, there would be complications -- i.e. the slots you had wouldn't work anymore, and/or you'd over-run your scheduled maintenance window.  It wouldn't be too often that it would be a completely uneventful changeover.

I'm sure we'll get it eventually, but it's actually a fairly complicated feature to add.  Allowing us to change to a plane in the same model range is easy, which is why we already have that one.

Really though, it's not that bad of a process if you don't need to make any changes.  I just right-click on every flight on the plane's schedule and open them in their own tabs.  Then I go through those tabs, change the model, and hit submit.  I can do a full schedule in maybe 10 seconds.  Longer than a single-click, for sure, and I've certainly had times where I didn't feel like doing it and just let planes sit around empty, but it's really not that bad.  This is why I plan ahead when starting a game with F28 MK4000s and make the turnaround 60minutes, which is high, but allows me to easily change over to F100s later on or even A320s if I want without necessarily having to redo all the turnarounds, reschedule flights around slots, etc.
