As the preparations for the next version of AirwaySim game engine (1.2) are still going on and the current game worlds are soon starting to come to an end there is a need to set up one more game world with the current version status before moving on to the next development version.

The next full game world will begin this Friday, March 5th at approximately 17.00 UTC. The game world will be called Euro Challenge 2 and it is somewhat similar to the soon-ending EU game world.

The EU Challenge #2 world will have a time frame in the early 2000s with only European airports included. There are also other restrictions like all larger aircraft being disabled / hidden, and basing at the largest airports (like LHR) will be disabled.

Mmm... sounds fun. I like the last part alot. :)

@Talentz...

Restrictions can be pushed even further like a 100 plane limit. But I am pleased Sami took over the "no big airport basing" idea. I'm sure this will be a big challenge to those regulars at AMS, LHR, FRA etc.  ;D

Will this mean that all 'Large' category 5 airports will be banned?  Will it be just categories 1-4 of airport or is it just the biggest of hubs that will be excluded?  Just so I can do some route research etc :)  Thanks.

Sami, will it only be the very largest airports (LHR, FRA, CDG, AMS etc) that are disabled or all category 5 airports?

Many of the category 5 airports are not in the same league.

EDIT: Daveos just beat me to it :)

Sami

Large AIRCRAFT are disabled. And BASING to large airports too, but flying to them is allowed.

I suggested to Sami to dissable basing in the top 20 airports. If only Cat 4 is allowed it will probably be to hard for many players I guess.

Sami

I will hand-pick the airports that are not allowed for home bases .. won't be that many I guess.

I think the top 20 would be too many, maybe the top ten would be a much better idea...

MAD
AMS
FCO

Then again, how much domestic travel comes out of the LARGEST airports?  Much of what comes out of some of them is long long haul international.

ZRH was not hard to make a top 5 airline out of...

Still though, it doesn't matter to me which way the rules swing  8)
