January development report
« on: January 12, 2010, 12:43:57 PM »
As posted earlier in another news (see here) the current plan of AirwaySim development has been to refine and perfect the features of the current software version (known as v.1.11). This v.1.11 is the current live version and the main new features in this release have been the new aircraft ordering system and improvement of certain dynamic features, among hunderds of other minor tweaks and features (list of updates).

The next version will be known as v.1.2 as it is more than a small "service pack" type update and it will contain some major new features. The active members of the community already know of the plans for the next version but to summarize the main feature that will be included in v.1.2 is the multiple base / HUB feature allowing players to base aircraft at many airports. Other features have not been "locked in" yet but they may include some (but probably not all) of the following: improvements on route/price management, aircraft history info, updated seating config system, inflight service, improvements to financial statements/calculations, aircraft performance system renewal .. etc.

Currently the admin focus has been on making sure that all current games are running smoothly and also on performance improvements of the server and the website core software. Second high priority has been on bug reports; the task has been to clear all of the bug reports that can be fixed to the current running games. Most of the bugs reported have been very minor ones but it is easier, and also better customer service, to clear first all of the outstanding bugs in current game worlds / versions and only after that start the development of next version. There are currently 2-4 open bug reports that will be fixed to the current versions, other open bug reports (~10) cannot be fixed until a new game is started so their fix is delayed to v.1.2.

The v.1.2 development status is thus currently still in planning stages, the actual coding has not yet begun. With the time estimate of v.1.2 completion in 2-4 months from present point there will be at least one additional game world launched before the next version is introduced.

If you have requests on new game worlds please post a suggestion to the General forum. Next game worlds would start after 1-1,5 months (Beginner world excepted).
