Hi,
In real life the Boeing 737-900ER was launched on July 18 of 2005
In game its July 23 of 2005 and still nothing about the -900ER.

Information from Boeing.com:
"737-900ER (Extended Range): A higher capacity, longer-range derivative of the 737-900, the 737-900ER launched July 18, 2005, with an order for 30 airplanes from Indonesia carrier Lion Air. On April 27, 2007, Boeing delivered the first Next-Generation 737-900ER to launch customer Lion Air."

I don't think its not difficult to program the right dates that models are launched in a game that is trying to be as realistic as possible...
I'm waiting for this plane to use it in my fleet!
Hope it will come soon...

RushmoreAir

To make it more random, the planes are launched 1.5 years + or - from the date they were launched in real life. I'm still waiting for the Dornier 328.

Tenerife

What do you mean?
Is the launch date in game, 1.5 years later than the launch date in real life???
:o :o

RushmoreAir

Yes. It makes it more random. It could be less, of course.

Sami

This information is also on the manual. https://www.airwaysim.com/game/Manual/Aircraft/New/#ProdSlots

And it has been made since it's simply too easy for people to Google the launch dates (which are real for all models in the game database) and to sit & wait for the launch..

Tenerife

What...???
What a 'stupid' answer is that, Sami?
Wasnt the goal of this game to make it as realistic as posible?
IM DESILUTIONATED!!!
I hope this will be changed soon, cause there are so many (sometimes small) things that make the game unrealistic,
and we always have to wait so long until changes to basic things like for example codesharing!!! are made, that im getting tired...
I now its not easy to program some of these things but thats not where im paying for!!!

RushmoreAir

Its fairer this way, so that the waiting line isn't 500 a/c long from the day the aircraft was launched. In real life, Airlines didn't know when a specific model would be launched. This is realistic.

Then don't pay if it bothers you so much, it's as simple as that.  It's not going to change because it was just changed to this method.  Aircraft here used to launch on their historic date, and the system was abused in a highly unrealistic manner.

It's also not "realistic" for a group of people to sit online waiting for the launch date of an aircraft, then all pouncing on it seconds from it's launch date and hogging the production queue for the next 10 years either (not to mention a hefty discount for the launch customer as well).  But that's exactly what used to happen here.  People would seriously set their alarm clocks for early in the morning because they knew the precise moment that Boeing would announce their newest plane and they wanted to get it first.  The ability to know the future is wholly unrealistic.

This gives everyone the same fighting chance to be a launch customer for a model and to get in on the queue before it gets too long and removes the advantage that certain players have to use Google to predict the future.  It's the same reason we have games that have non-historic fuel pricing.  There's a difference between something being based on reality and copying reality.  There's no fun is copying reality over and over and over again because everyone knows exactly what's going to happen.

Tenerife

Yes it really bothers me!
And I'm paying because everytime I start a game I thinks things that have been announced to change will have changed, but dont change...
But ok...

Just read the Announcements.

Every change that was made to a game is right in there (including this change to a random launch date); almost always with a screenshot of the change if it's applicable.  You don't have to start a game to see if there's been any difference.  Just read the Announcements and see for yourself if whatever change you expected to be made ended up being put into the game.

This change, along with many others regarding Aircraft that you might find "unrealistic" (dynamic production rates on lines, aircraft no longer having a 'cancellation' date, extensive Used market upgrades, and many others) was all part of the v1.1 update.  And sami updated the thread on 1.1 all throughout its development before release, providing extensive details on the changes, why they were done, and how they would work.

What...??

To be clear, it will not be changed. (and stop yelling please, that's not appropriate for this forum.)

Like Sigma pointed already - The database has the real launch & certification dates for every model, and each game can have the real dates or randomized dates. But practically every game world has the randomized dates, as like I already said (!), it is simply too easy for people to anticipate the new models by just googling the data and then sit in front of the computer hitting 'reload' until that date appears and then snatch a good launch customer order. (and this too was explained on the manual chapter what I linked, if you read it).

And really, if you call things like codesharing "basic" features, then you are really off sorry to say. :-\  As this is not some simple "facebook game" where I can code a single button that says "codeshare" and tell that "now we have a codeshare feature", although in reality that wouldn't do anything  ;D (or in other words - all features will be proper ones with full functionality).

A bit OT, but after reading this thread and seeing the abuse you have to take... keep up the good work Sami!

As Matt said, you have created a real work of art sami. You shouldn't even continue replying because sigma took care of everything for you.

Aldo.
There are pretty good reasons to have implemented the current a/c launch setup. There have been furious discussions about it in the forum almost a year ago. You may have already noticed that it is a unique feature of this forum to discuss everything frankly and make suggestions about all kind of ideas, which is greatly appreciated. But I must emphasize as well that your style of writing is absolutely inappropriate and your judgements could be much more substantial if you minded searching the forum before critizing in a bully way. Please feel free to voice your opinion and your ideas, which can always be an enrichment. But with your so far profiled style, you are hitting the wrong tone and are not benefiting this great game and community in any way. So, again please, show us the right profile and tone by apologizing for this repeated inadequate literate venture and attempt to become a member of this rather than an outlaw.
