Competitors fares?

Hi - is there a way for me to see what competitors are charging for fares on a particular route?

No it won't be added.

Unlike real life there's nothing real at stake here.  As it's just a game it's significantly easier to just cut prices without any real worry about what that actually means for your business as it's simply not real.  Everyone would simply cut their prices below the other people.  Then the others, who could immediately see the change, would cut theirs to suit and so on and so forth.  At least in real-life the "race to the bottom" is somewhat slow and is slowed by countless real concerns on what that decision may mean for the viability of your company; here in-game, it would happen in minutes with little to no regard to the repercussions.

I would agree that prices should be transparent.  If the game forced the airline to cease operations when its cash position was significantly in the red then a player that suffered too many bankruptcies would be forced to pay to keep playing.  The consequence is then real and rational behavior should prevail.
