Slot specific question

I recently got new, faster aircraft (ATRs from Fokker 50s), so I had to change my routes. When I did so, I ended up spending a lot of money experimenting with the times, etc.

Two questions:

1. If I go from a more desirable time to a less desirable time, are slot fees refunded to me?

2. Why are slot fees charged immediately. Wouldn't it make more sense to charge like you do staff pay, leases, etc. -- once a week?

I was really surprised how much moving those flights around cost me.

That's why it would also be easy as someone also stated before to have a dummy schedule so you don't pay huge sums to change your routes and then find out that the have to be 15 min earlier or something.

When editing a route the fee paid for a new slot or movement of existing slot is only minimal compared to the price of a new route slot. Depending on how much you move the dep time the discount can be between -100% to -50% or so.

But basically <10 min changes are always free.

Is this still the case ?

I am attempting to move slots from 22.05 to 21.55 and the system wants to charge me !

I've noticed that 10-minute changes are free, but only within the same clock hour. As soon as you go from :55 to :00 or from :55 to :00, you're in a new hour with its own allocation of slots.

*that would be "from :55 to :00 or from :00 to :55".  (Forum won't let me edit  >:( )

Dummy-schedule  -  can you please elaborate, how you do that? I always get notified after a while that I do not use the slots. Or how do you do this?

Thanks and

I *think* what they mean is not to create the routes.

But instead, open up tabs for every route you're trying to create for the plane, and check there are slots. Then click 'create route' for all 4 (or 2 or 3 or whatever) routes. Otherwise, you can run into the problem of creating the first 3 routes, and then when trying to create the 4th, discover there's a slot shortage at the exact time you want, and you need to move the 3 created routes by 30 minutes.

Oh, I understand.

OK, I will try that myself sometime.

Thanks for the input.

Have good business and full planes,
