Thumbs up for Snow management in Finland
« on: February 12, 2011, 02:41:21 PM »
While the Dutch keep their name high up on water management.... I put my thumbs up for Helsinki to keep the airport open at - what we call, severe weather conditions -.... 5 Cm of snow and the whole of Europe comes to a complete standstill... If I were a Fin, I sertainly would laugh my Ass off.... unfortunatly thei prime minister doesn't...

Well, Norway is doing ok too. ENGM is completely cleared in 1 hour, it takes about 15 minutes to do one runway.... 8)

And talking of cold weather, I live about 40kms southwest of Oslo, and woke to -24 degrees C this morning....*shiver*

In my part of the world (New York City) when it snows, it usually melts within a week.  This year, Central Park has snow since December 26th - that's 6+ weeks.  Probably a record...
