Post by: xAxonZz on June 23, 2026, 11:22:00 AM
"A New Flag. A Proud Nation. The Same North Star."

**Montréal, March, 1965** — NorthStar Airways today proudly unveiled a special commemorative aircraft livery celebrating the adoption of Canada's new Maple Leaf Flag.

The new design was presented at Montréal Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport aboard both a Vickers VC10 and a Fokker F.27 Friendship, symbolizing the unity of NorthStar's growing domestic and international network.

The unveiling coincides with a historic day for Canada as the nation officially adopts its new national flag, featuring the now-iconic red maple leaf.

NorthStar Airways President stated:

> "Today marks a defining moment in Canadian history. As a proudly Canadian airline founded in Montréal, we are honoured to celebrate this occasion alongside our passengers, employees, and communities across the country."

The commemorative livery retains NorthStar Airways' distinctive blue-and-gold identity while incorporating elements inspired by the new Canadian flag, including a maple leaf featured on the aircraft tail alongside the airline's iconic North Star emblem.

According to the airline, the design represents the meeting of two symbols:

* The North Star, guiding travellers across continents.
* The Maple Leaf, representing the unity and spirit of Canada.

The special livery has been applied to the airline's newest Vickers VC10 jet as well as a Fokker F.27 Friendship, highlighting NorthStar's commitment to serving Canadians on routes both near and far.

Since its founding in Montréal in 1950, NorthStar Airways has grown into Canada's third-largest airline, operating an extensive network linking communities across Canada with destinations throughout North America, Europe, South America, Africa, and beyond.

With more than 40 million passengers carried and an order book of VC10 and Super VC10 aircraft, NorthStar continues to play a leading role in Canada's aviation future.

As Canada's flag enters a new chapter, NorthStar Airways looks forward to carrying that symbol around the world.

> "The flag may be new," the President concluded, "but our commitment remains unchanged: to proudly represent Canada wherever we fly."
