That's strange.
At the end of my last game week, I suddenly got hit with a bill for over 2.7 million in airport slot fees, even though I didn't open a single new route that week.
I did put an aircraft into storage because it wasn't profitable, and in doing so, I also stopped the flights and airport slot fees.
Could that have something to do with it?
Because even so, that 2.7M in airport slot fees is still way too much.

This has been explained many times before (by me at least twice, plus others) so search the forum for more detail. Basically it's to do with how company accounting works. The slots are an company asset when you buy them and you are "charged" for slot fees as a loss to the company when you give up the slots for nothing, not when you buy them.
And just to clarify, your money did not change here at all. This is just the case when you write off the value of the slots as a taxable loss when you get rid of the slots.
