This map states, that they show domestic flights only. in Estonia zero according to this map, which is not true, there are flghts to isles.
Is my understanding correct: these are the only countries wrth starting: USA, Brazil, Western EU, Turkey, Russia, China, India, Indonesia, Malasia, Australia, Japan. (On the other hand, somehow I doubt, that staring in Russia, Iran, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia would bring my Airwaysim company to top 10.)
Starting in low domestic flights countries (sorry for my apostrophies) will be a failures.
define failure. people play the game for different reasons. Sure some want 3000 aircraft airlines our of LAX, ORD,JFK etc but everybody likes something a little different. I know people who go ga-ga at the thought of using small planes, but I detest them! So define what you want to achieve, and we can suggest some good starting points. One key thing is, if somebody is a new player, don't start in LHR or JFK or RJTT which are likely to have an 2 or 3 experienced players in them who will crush the baby player, even if inadvertently. Better to start someplace else, out of the way, then move to the bigger airport after a BK.

I do believe the OP is correct that especially in smaller countries this game does ignore local domestic markets and dirt fields that nevertheless serve significant enough domestic traffic to make for a profitable turboprop run even if it's mostly cargo. I get it might be hard to translate a once a week route that sells out thirty seats in this game but the more I learn about obscure operations, the more I realize we don't make much room for the bush pilots.
My guess is passenger data is, in basic, something from the more beginning days of AWS. The absurd advantage LHR has is one reason for me believing this.
I have never and will never go anywhere near those airports like Heathrow or Atlanta. I like to survive.
