Title: Routes Randomly Unscheduled and Airport Slots Lost
Post by: Wealthycentro on July 25, 2025, 07:16:36 PM
So, I didn't play AirwaySim for about a day because I was away from home. When I got back, I had a ton of notifications about airport slots being removed due to inactivity. I was confused because I hadn't purchased any slots before leaving, except for the ones that were being flown. When I checked my schedule, I noticed a significant number of flights had been removed. I'm wondering if this is an intentional feature and there was a reason for these routes to be unscheduled, or if it is a bug. Thank you.

Routes are not removed from schedules automatically.

The only exception to this is if your aircraft does not meet the noise requirements for the airports. (there are rather clear warnings of these when some noise regulations change)

by "removed" I think the OP means still scheduled to the aircraft but showing yellow, ie no slots.

What's the logic if you have buy slots for a new route and put it on a plane on D check, for example. Would they time out as not flown before the D check finishes, which could be 80 days for widebodies..

Aircraft in maintenance do no cause slot expiration.

As long as the route has been flown for at least 1 full week first (since otherwise the slots show up as "never used").

I think they do if you make any changes after the aircraft goes into maintenance. For example if you change a flight timing slightly while the a/c is in D-Check, the act of removing it and re-adding to the schedule might cause the slots to be lost - subject to normal expiration times. I think! For sure if you wholesale move a schedule from an active aircraft onto one in D-Check, the slots stand to be lost.

For literally most of the years I've been playing the game I find "random" slot losses. In a big airline (around 1000 aircraft) it occurs perhaps once every real-time day. Thus "view routes not being flown" is one of the first things I check every day. I don't think this is a bug - it's just down to me making changes like I describe above, without realising I've been careless.

I also had this on one of my 777's for one day only. Thought it was weird and pushed it back.

I've had this too and its extremely annoying, there should be a system whereby if the slots are allocated to an aircraft they don't expire particularly as the used market seems pretty rubbish at times and you have aircraft that need have c/d checks.....
