Is there any set date for the next game starting ? ? ?
when 1.1 is finished.
any set date for that ??
Sami, a thought...
We have discussed this elsewhere.
Can we make a 50 player game
1 Continent (NA would be nice)
Game time: 5-8 years
Airplane Production: Quadruple current levels
Make this game specifically for newer players only HOWEVER, you hand select a few veterans who you want to be a part of the game (all in different alliances) who can help guide the newbs in how to be successful in it.
Maybe a game with about 200 players like air travel boom but with less players to free up the big airports like LHR.
Big airports are not always the safest bet.
yeh but most of the rich airlines you see are at large airport. i dont always go to big ones because there is never enough good route that are not already been used.
Yes, they may be at a large airport... These are the people who do really well early. Except everyone is gunning for them and their cities.
Many airlines at these airports fail under pressure.
I agree, the biggest airports are not the best because many people want to be based there and all others want to fly there from their hubs. All routes will be saturated and all slots will be gone. For that reason I think it is best to find a hub city that is large but not huge like LHR etc.
LHR is the worst for airport slots.
Yes, a training style game for even some of us who love this game to pieces but really seem to suck at it.. I would love to see some kind of tutorial game. And, yes if you all were wondering, I am still here.
I'd volunteer to mentor new players.
can we start it in july, when the exams end ;D
So no one knows the exact date...just when version 1.1 developments have been completed...ok then...
I don't know what I should do. Wait for the next game, or start already. All the current games a quite difficult. There's just too many people. (As we all have figured that out already).
I don't mean to rain on your parade, but we already tried a limited private game for 25 people. It was hard to find 25 people to sign up before the game could be opened. All of those didn't even start the game when it was created. Then many people dropped out because there were too few players and the game was boring even though the game was limited only to North America and Europe.
With the proposed game, it might cause a problem that a private game would generally cost more credits to join than a regular game. Many new players thinking of joining the game feel that 10 credits is far too much to invest before trying out an almost fully featured free demo game. That's something like 4 euros for a game that lasts months, you can't even get a decent pint of beer in Finland for that money.
Also, taking a fraction of the players in the current game worlds and increasing aircraft production would mean basically unlimited suppy and unlimited growth. Believe me, it is not as much fun as it sounds. Starting out in a world like that really teaches you nothing, IMHO.
I could warm for some 50-100 player one continent game, that is not private but public and open for anyone to join. But the new aircraft production rates wouldn't be increased in any case.
50-100 player game in europe
I would play
I would play if the gameplay time was about 1995-2011 same as air travel boom
me too
Im game on a European matchup.
Kontio, I know that the private game failed. I am one of the players who left. It was just too easy.

Id give that a try.. but Id also like to propose, at some point, a real challenging world- perhaps trying the less travelled parts of the world: South America, Africa and the Pacific Islands... I know I've said it before but hey, its worth repeating..;
also.. Sami, I hoe future games don't have so many players.. 350-375 players for one game is just TOO MANY.. games should be under 250 in my honest opinion.

I think 275 is a good stretch to be honest. I left Jet Age 2 with 170 people in it because it was just too boring. No competition, nothing at all.
ATB1 has thur far proved as a faily challenging game regarding competition. I think, however, the cap could be lowered slightly. But under 250 is too much IMO.
I'm having a blast at this game! Wish I'd known about it sooner...
I'd really like to see an epic game. Covering say 1950 - 2010. Could charge more credits since it would consume more time on the server. I'd be glad to pay extra for such a setup.
same i would love a game like that but most of the route will be used up by the end of the game.

That's kind of the what's happening on the games now.
A game that length would steady things out over time. It would reduce the unrealistic profits currently seen and mean that airlines would have to be managed more efficiently, thus creating more realism. I think a second hub would have to be allowed, though, in order to implement this because of the slot situations at some airports.
An epic 60 year challenge would definitely get my vote :)
I agree that a longer game would have more realism. Currently, I'm sure most of us are guilty of purposefully choosing routes with no competition rather than go through the trouble of competing. A longer game would ensure rigorous competition. It would also allow for multiple fleet refreshes, which I think would be incredibly interesting to try.
As a newby I would like to see an easy game to start..., as the games availible are medium to hard, there are no demo or easy games to learn. :(
Lapuce
Same here.
at the start we should have about 6,000,000 so we have more of a chance to buy bigger planes to carry more passengers for some reason were not that quik
I would be playing as well! But please, intense competition! I find it quite boring to see a few big ones dominating currently (Jet Age 2). They have the power to squeeze out most competitors after only 7 years within the game. So I would love intense competition!
Denis
I also would love longer games but based on competition base. Aside could be always options to play other game sets shorter and continent-limited. As far I could experiece in Jet Age oil crisis was the main !!?? or the only real barrier to growing. That's far too scanty and simple in a way that fast-growing can't be avoided. In other words no possibility to loose money apart from beginning. Given that competition, overcrowding and in general complexities are welcomed. We want to undergo as much as possible realism transferred into the game.
I feel like the only person who wants a shorter game.
Here is my dream game:
1. One continent
2. No used aircraft to start or older used because the few people who got DC10s in Jet Age ruled early. And those were the people who can afford to sit around refreshing every game day at noon.
3. Randomizer on new airplane announcement dates (no more people who can sit and wait for new planes to be released and get the first 50
4. Limited number of players.
5. 60 human days max
I can go for a shorter game

I' m afraid the thing can't be eliminated. There will be always people sunken in chair ==> getting advantages.

I just wonder, would it help if there were a delay in assigning a route for bigger airplanes. For me its seems taking more time to create a route for a big Airbus than a small Embraer - not only more money.
Well, everybody comes back to the point of how competition may be splitted more even, I guess. How about being able to purchse the right to open flights from a second, third, and fourth hub depending on conditions to be met and money? In Europe it would be enough to keep that tight to the country, (luxembourg could be Benelux states) and in the US it could be tight to regions. This way, one would be able to move into places to more strategically attack big players and take advantage of bankruptcies. Just an idea, folks.
