I was wondering, sometimes some interesting/nice routes are not served because the AC wouldn't fit in the fleet due to fleet commoniality penalties. Is it a possibility that an airline can wetlease certan types from other airlines, avoiding the fleet commonility penaltie. With some restrictions, off course.
E.G. I have a company with base in Brussels has a rather low demand for long haul (which can be lucrative, nonetheless), so my focus is Europe, North Africa, Middle East with a regional en medium haul fleet from the ERJ, E190 and A320 families. But there might be routes feasibile with the A330/B777. Via a wetlease you could lease some AC's from another player, and open new opportunities.
Oké, minor side might be, people will buy AC's to the max to make wet lease their money cow, will there be a limit in number of types etc. I'm just wondering and like to hear your toughts.
