As per my experiment, you can increase your RI by flying only 1 day per week instead of 7 days per week. The rate of RI increment is the same.
But be cautious if you do not fly that route when you are on B check, the RI will decrease because that week you didn't fly.

My route RJFF was flown 1 day per week.
My route RJGG was flown 7 days per week.
The result comes out that the RI increase is the same.

Interesting, I always thought that the frequency you operate a new route would make a significant difference to a new route gaining RI. I thought that if one new route had just a single daily flight it would slowly gain RI, and if at the same time another new route was flown say 3 times every day, that would give that route a much faster rate of RI growth

Yeah for times per day need to test it.
empirically I believe, without advertising, RI increases at "1" per week. If a week goes by without a single flight, eg cancellations or something, then RI drops by 4. How many flights a week you have has no bearing on it, it goes up by 1 per week.
Advertising of course does increase RI faster, but I don't have any charts showing spend vs rate of increase
RI only really matters for cargo. Pax will generally get 40% LF from day 1 with RI of 1. Cargo though you can expect 1-2% LF until RI is 30 or more and CH won't kick in until RI is above 80. So expect heavy losses for 6 game months after starting a new cargo route.
I've been known to keep a "spare" plane and put it on a series of planned routes, 1 trip/week, just to build RI for when I schedule it properly. You could use any old rust bucket, in fact a small fuel efficient rust bucket world work best, eg 734F. Then bang the MD11Fs on 6 months later.

For the rate of increase. I found that RI increased ten points per month without marketing. I need to record more info to prove that.
