Title: New Aircraft Order Cap
Post by: samsaunders85 on May 08, 2009, 10:29:38 PM
Please, please, please can we have a cap on the amount of new aircraft that can be ordered please? I'm not one to moan but at present its 1997 in the Jet Boom game and the ordering time for certain aircraft (A320's, B737's) is up to and more than 5 years. Its stifling the game and meaning a few can excel whilst the rest have to sit around and wait for ages, doing nothing. I have literally not done anything to my airline for the past week, real time! Can we say, a cap of no more than 15-20 aircraft per year? One example of 50 B777-300's for one customer is absurd and killing the game!

Sorry to rant! Hope everyone is cool  :)

...and because of that absolutely nothing will be done to patch the old system we are currently using, as our supreme leader keeps saying or ends up being quoted when threads like these pop up about every day.

When the new air travel boom will open, many people from this game will go to the other thus leaving good quantities of used aircraft and with their bankrupcies, the ordering lists will get shorter.

And also even big airlines sometimes run into financial difficulty and bankrupt, or the players just get bored. That releases planes onto the market and frees up slots in the order queue. People have been starting to order planes just to put them up for leas, which makes me very happy as a player-driven used aircraft market has been something I feel has been missing from this game. What I'm trying to say is that the game is just beginning and it doesn't always progress so linearly (or should that be exponentially), it's a dynamic business simulation where you can sometimes get a good break with changing circumstances. Sometimes it's boring, I admit, but games like these tend to be very slow at times, and sometimes keep you far too busy (wife told me to do the laundry but I have dozens of planes to schedule   ;))

Wow, can you imagine being in that guy's shoes when all of them arrive? :o

I hope that will be me one day.

Trust me, its a disaster! In SKylink's private 30 game I had 150 A319's arriving. They will just keep on coming, for four days or so (real life). One night will give you 10 or 12 new planes (depending on how much sleep you get ;)). Its probably going to kill his airline, because of all the C-checks (and eventually D-checks, which will be even worse).

lol no thanks here. that sounds fun yet horribly disastrous all at once.

i will stick to my 2 to 5 orders at a time for now.

whats good is yes, alot of the planes being ordered new may end up on the used leasing list eventually. always a nice thought.

Well hopefully the used market will start moving soon...

ATM the only planes that are getting put up are being posted at a 50-75% premium on sticker price and you don't have much choice on the matter as there are no alternatives.  Demonic Airways has had a 763ER up for sale for 9 months now at $190m, it's no wonder it hasn't been taken.  People are desperate for planes but not that desperate!

I say order little and often is the best way!  Currently I have an entire new fleet on order (50 aircraft) - but each order is only for 5 or so aircraft at a time and these are due to arrive over an entire 4.5 year period - much easier to handle when C & D checks come around  ;)

No more caps !!! If you want things to follow a script, go to a movie.
