Title: New Aircraft Pricing
Post by: d_calf on October 27, 2021, 05:57:54 PM
Hey all... I was active with AirwaySim numerous years ago and am back again (lots of really cool updates since I've been here last).

My question is this. IRL, the pricing of new aircraft seems to be quite off from what the game states. For example, I have used a predominantly Airbus fleet for my game this go around. A specific example is the A330-900NEO... The price of the new aircraft in-game is SIGNIFICANTLY less than a comparable B787-9 (even 8)... Even though the A330NEOs, IRL are sticker priced higher than the B78Xs.

I also know, IRL, that once an airline starts building a significant fleet of one manufacturer of aircraft their future aircraft purchases are discounted HEAVILY.

Does AirwaySim take this into account when pricing new aircraft during gameplay?

Thanks  :)!

The pricing is dynamic, based on the demand of the model, so it can be very different from game to game. And large new orders, and also being the launch customer, will award a discount too. https://www.airwaysim.com/game/Manual/Aircraft/New/#Pricing

I'd add that making good money in the endgame is easy enough, especially when the end is near, insanely pricey birds are a way to reduce stockpiles of cash (not enough, but better than nothing).
