Title: Does configuration affect staffing levels?
Post by: Kazari on May 04, 2009, 11:13:24 PM
Is the staffing level different if I make my planes all F, all C, all Y?

Now that you mention staffing, do you need more cabin crew if you configure your aircraft high density?

I have a hunch that the answer to Kazari's and my questions are both no, but it would be nice if the Man gave us a definite answer.

I'm going to assume the answer is no, since crew seems hard-coded to the aircraft.

I presume the assumption to be if you were to go to an All-First configuration you would retain the same number of crew in order to achieve the higher service levels you would likely be aiming for in such a configuration.  And the opposite would be true if you went for an All-Y, High-Density configuration.

It works in the profit-laden environment we have today where micro-managing individual crew members wouldn't yield a much greater profit margin than the already high numbers we get today.  If there comes a time where costs get more in line with reality with revenues in this game, the ability to have more control of your crew requirements on a per-plane/configuration level would certainly need to play a role there.

Good point; it seems to be tied to the aircraft as you say, but it probably works out best that way :)
