Title: History and the Future end results (02/19 - 11/20)
Post by: Sami on November 05, 2020, 06:57:45 PM
One of our three main epic-length airline simulation scenarios, History and the Future, has ended today after over 1.5 years of continuous running.

Special mention to the 32 players who made it all the way through from the start to the end, that's a great achievement!

We're also happy to announce that the next History and the Future scenario will start after a week, on Friday November 13th. You can already sign up for the new scenario at the Game Area (https://www.airwaysim.com/game/?gView=347#game347).

As a new special feature, all players who played this scenario all the way to the end can join the new game with a 5 Credit discount (saving the initial joining fee)!

Here are the end stats for this scenario:

What a game this was! Truly epic in every aspect. Not only was it the biggest airline I ever built, but it was one of the most eventful ones, too. We saw the rise and decline of dozens of really big airlines and massive cargo numbers which wanted to be exploited. I managed to get both the passenger and cargo level 5 achievement and am happy to have finished as 2nd biggest airline in terms of total passengers (with my alliance mates on position 1 and 3).

Just to give outsiders an idea what a marathon "History and the Future" is: When I started this game, my wife and I had no clue we would get a kid. Now, it's already 9 months old. Mind blown.

in the 70s.... "Mom, where's dad?".. "He is in Vietnam, he will be back soon, he loves you very much" ... 2020s..."Mom, where's dad?" .. "He's playing AWS ........" :,(

Speaking about Vietnam, it's nearly the ideal place for that infamous 55% margin achievement. But I had to do A LOT of aircraft brokering within one quarter, still on the early happy years, to snatch it. That one is a tough one, I'm proud to have suceeded.

CEO wealth, in comparison, is very easy. Just follow it, and, more important, never have a quarter of losses. Well, TBH, I had once losses, in the early 1980s, when suddenly those IL18Ds showed their age. Nearly BK'd back then. I got rid of all my IL18Ds, waited one year for the new 733s, and saved my skin.

Yeah, it was a fun game.
Though I didn't achieve my soviet metal only airline out of Russia, my Nepalese airline was probably the biggest the country has ever seen!
Getting the most of my 88 aircraft to 139 destinations using an all owned, youngest in game (2.18Y), highest utilization (18.8h/day) fleet of A220's, E120's, E145's and PC12's!
