Title: Weird demand levels from DHA
Post by: jerry727 on November 02, 2020, 09:34:51 AM
So in the Speed World, based in Saudi Arabia and with a new base in DHA, I noticed some weird traffic demand patterns that do not make much sense.

Some Europe destinations (e.g. FRA, CPH, ZRH, FCO) have a fair demand while others, e.g. LHR, CDG are set to 0.

What's more weird is that when I opened a DHA-DUS route (with a fair demand), suddenly it went to 0 and got a warning for oversupply...

Any thoughts on whether this is a bug or a feature?

DHA is an airport which doesn't have any Intl LH demand, only Domestic and Intl (SH).

The game defined cutoff for Intl LH is 2400nm when you fly intercontinental.

That explains why airports like FRA and CPH have demand, but those slightly further like LHR and CDG do not.

DUS is over the 2400nm mark, so wouldn't have ever had any demand to begin with in theory. Perhaps confused with another airport?

Thanks, I noticed the 2400 threshold. To be honest, I am not sure if I was confused with DUS, because I would swear that it had some fair demand when I scheduled it... In any case, it's clear now!

FYI: I know the short/longhaul split with certain NM is quite artificial. But it's part of the old demand system's mechanic. Cargo stuff is better in this sense already.
